Dorm users bring their own bedding (mattresses are provided). Bedding is included with the rooms in the guest cabin and shop loft. Also bring: work clothes for the full week, rain gear, and a flashlight. Summer weather usually varies between 55 and 90 degrees. Winter weather ranges from about zero (occasionally) to 55 degrees.
Guest Policy
When courses are not fully enrolled we can welcome spouses and other guests who are not participating in a class. The companion room charges are $20/night for the guest cabin/workshop loft and $10/night in the dormitory. Prices for optional meals are: breakfast $8; lunch $10; supper $17. Children are welcome, and rates can be adjusted. (Parents must be fully responsible for the full-time safety and supervision of their children.) Because space is limited, course participants bringing guests should register as early as possible.
Getting Here
Most of our students drive to Country Workshops. The closest airports are Tri-Cities, Tennessee, and Asheville, North Carolina. Airport pickups can usually be arranged with other students who pass near one of these airports on their way to Country Workshops.
Plan to arrive between 4 and 6 p.m. on the afternoon preceding your course. This will allow time to become acquainted, move in, and enjoy the evening meal. Daily classes are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participants are expected to help with dishes and table setup. Arrangements can be made for supper after your workshop, overnight lodging, and for breakfast before departing.
